Oceana North America
Oceana, founded in 2001, is the largest international organization focused solely on ocean conservation. Their offices in North America, Central America, South America and Europe work together on a limited number of strategic, directed campaigns to achieve measurable outcomes that will help return our oceans to former levels of abundance. Their scientists work closely with teams of economists, lawyers and advocates to achieve tangible results for the oceans.
In fewer than ten years, Oceana has achieved dozens of concrete policy victories for marine life and habitats. From stopping bottom trawling in sensitive habitat areas to protecting sea turtles from commercial fishing gear, their victories represent a new hope for the world’s oceans.
Oceana & the Gulf Disaster
Oceana has been responding to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in a number of ways and is calling for an immediate ban on all new drilling in U.S. waters.

The Charity of the Month program is designed to help educate visitors and raise funding for the featured charity*. By featuring a multitude of charities throughout the year, I'm hoping to raise awareness and funding for not only one good cause, but all of them.
